A big ol' update on things Lumenrose

Latest collection release.
First up, there is a whole new batch of jewelry that I added to the shop a couple days ago. This collection is a mix of sterling and 14k goldfill. I picked bright, vibrant and striking stones to match the outward, exuberant, yang energy of summer. Head over to the shop to see it all now.

Newest retail location.
Today, August first, marks one month since Lumenrose Jewelry has been available in a new location at a local shop down here in Southern Arizona. The Patagonia Lumber Co has a small case of jewelry that I made exclusively with turquoise from the Patagonia Mountains just outside of this cute little town. This capsule collection (what I'm calling it) is one that I worked hard on and it is very satisfying to have it welcomed at a shop in the particular region I live. While we are only an hour and change away from Tucson, it's markedly different here in eastern Santa Cruz County. Maybe you'll come visit this rolling hills, oak savannah, wine country some day!

Here's the jewelry case as I was setting it up at the Lumber Co.

New/old skills I brushed up on.
This last image above features a pair of silver arch earrings that were part of something I worked on in June: Sand casting. I dusted off the tools I bought over 3 years ago and re-taught myself (still very much learning!) how to do the basics. I was able to get a pair of these earrings made for the Lumber Co collection. Here's what they looked like straight out of the sand mold.

Customs CLOSED.
I have reached a point again where I am going to close custom orders for the foreseeable future. I do often take semi-custom orders for simple items, for example a design I've made before but with a different stone, so if you want something like a simple dainty turquoise necklace, feel free to reach out. But that said, all big one of a kind custom projects are off the table right now as I wrap up a handful of other orders and start thinking about the holiday season (I know, its still summer, but I work slow and it'll be here before we know it). Here are a couple more substantial customs I just wanted to show off from the past months that came out really great.

Personal news.
Some of you may know that my husband is a wildland firefighter. This has meant that he is essentially gone fighting fires from April - Oct. He made some big moves and took a new job this year so this is the first summer we'll be able to plan trips in the warm weather months. He still works in fire and has in fact gone to two fire assignments this summer already, but he works the majority of the time from home now....and shares my studio! We are one tight little family in an 88sf tiny building. Mornings often look like Ben at his work desk, me 3 feet away at my jewelry bench and our daughter 5 feet away perched on the deep windowsill watching her favorite show. I'll get about an hour of work in this way. Then, since she's no longer napping (insert saddest crying face ever) and can't watch shows all day (as much as she'd love to) I get to be mom the rest of the day until Ben gets off and can take over parent duty while I get an hour of work in before dinner.
So because we finally can, we'll be taking two trips in August! I'll be away from the bench quite a bit, but I plan to have the next shop update in Sept. Until then, I'll be hard at work on a new batch of jewelry for The Artisan's Bench and Pop Cycle. Check out both stores- they're each full of the best curated handmade goods.
Oh, we camped for the first time with my daughter, who's almost three. It felt like a momentous thing to do --ask me some time-- and it went really well!
